A deck contains 7 cards numbered 1 through 7 . A card is randomly chosen from the deck. The card is then put back into the deck. The deck is shuffled. Then another random selection is made.

Independent or dependent?

This is an example of an independent event because the outcome of the first selection has no effect on the outcome of the second selection since the first card is put back into the deck and the deck is shuffled. Each selection is independent of the other.
