Native Americans had different reasons for allying with either the French or the British. Some Native Americans allied with the French because they had a long-standing relationship with them, and the French had a reputation for respecting Native American culture and autonomy. Other Native Americans allied with the British because they offered more trade opportunities and were more willing to provide military support. Additionally, some Native Americans chose to ally with whichever side was geographically closer to them.
