Jeffrey's Bank Account
Week Balance
1 $10
2 $24
3 $38
4 $52
5 $66
6 $80
using the infomation from the table, write an equation that represents the balance in jeffrey's bank account as a function of the number of weeks
i forgot how to find the equation
14x-4 i don't remember the exact way either but for this problem i made x the number of week and y the balance and then i look to see what the difference in balance was weekly, and it turn out ot be 14
i made that my coefficient (14x) and then i plug in the first week which was 1 obciously 14(1) which gave me 1 obviously that doesnt correspond to the balance that is suppose to be 10 so i subtract 4 to give me ten, s my new equation was 14x-4 plug in the other numbers to check and voila
To find the equation that represents the balance in Jeffrey's bank account as a function of the number of weeks, we can observe that the balance increases by $14 every week. This means that there is a constant rate of change.
Let's assume that the number of weeks is represented by "x" and the balance is represented by "y".
The initial balance at week 1 is $10. As the balance increases by $14 every week, we can write the equation in slope-intercept form:
y = mx + b
Where:
m = slope (rate of change of the balance per week)
b = y-intercept (initial balance)
From the given information, the slope, m, is $14 because the balance increases by $14 every week. The y-intercept, b, is $10, as it represents the initial balance at week 1.
Therefore, the equation would be:
y = 14x + 10
This equation represents the balance in Jeffrey's bank account as a function of the number of weeks.
