Stakeholder Influences

Programs must often cater to the needs or expectations of many stakeholders, which may include the program administrator and staff, the funding institution, and the community the program serves. In any human services program, one of the most influential stakeholders is the funding institution. The funding institution often has its own expectations for the program and its evaluation.

· Describe how the needs and expectations of stakeholders influence a program plan.

· Evaluate the program in the scenario you selected from Appendix B from each stakeholder’s perspective.

o Summarize the needs and expectations of each group in terms of your program.

o Address how the needs and expectations of each group can be met, and where compromises must be made.

· Find a funding institution that works with human service organizations.

· Explain the expectations for evaluation of this funding institution. How could these expectations influence the program or evaluation plans?

· Write your assessment of stakeholder influences in 1,050 to 1,400 words

the program is:

PEACE Domestic Violence Agency

Organization Mission

PEACE’s mission is to reduce victim trauma, empower survivors, and promote recovery through direct services. PEACE is committed to reducing the incidence of sexual assault and domestic violence through education and strives to challenge societal norms and beliefs that condone and perpetuate violence in the community.

Brief Community Description

The city of Portland is similar to many other communities throughout the country. As a large metropolitan city, the region has experienced increasing reports of domestic and youth violence, spousal and child abuse, assault, and incidents of road rage over the last 5 years.

Funding Opportunity

The National Foundation’s funding program, Supporting Families, strives to fulfill the following objectives:

• Promote the well-being of young men, women, and children whose lives have been affected by domestic violence, and to reduce the prevalence of domestic violence through increased service provision, education, and awareness.
• Improve the quality of life of families with a member or members in prison, through the provision of services responsive to their needs.
• Provide young people who are or have been involved with the criminal justice system with a rehabilitation program designed to obtain the skills, confidence, and personal support networks to enable them to lead fulfilled and successful lives.

The foundation has two grant programs under which it provides funding to nonprofits:

• The Small Grants Program offers one-time grants of up to $5,000 to registered charities with an annual budget under $500,000.
The Investor Program is an innovative funding program designed to support six organizations under each of the objectives of the Supporting Families program, with up to $150,000 a year for up to 3 years.

To understand how stakeholder influences can shape a program plan and evaluation, let's break down the steps and tackle each question one by one:

1. Describe how the needs and expectations of stakeholders influence a program plan.
To answer this question, you need to consider the needs and expectations of the different stakeholders involved in the program. Stakeholders can include program administrators and staff, funding institutions, and the community being served. Each stakeholder's perspective will shape the goals, strategies, and processes of the program. For example, a funding institution may have specific requirements or outcomes they expect from the program, while the community may have specific needs that need to be addressed. By understanding and addressing the needs and expectations of all stakeholders, a program plan can be developed to meet their collective interests.

2. Evaluate the program in the scenario you selected from Appendix B from each stakeholder's perspective.
First, you need to select a scenario from Appendix B. Once you have chosen a scenario, you can conduct an evaluation of the program from the perspective of each stakeholder group involved in the scenario. In this evaluation, summarize the needs and expectations of each stakeholder group with regards to the program. Consider what they consider to be successful outcomes, potential challenges they might be concerned about, and any specific requirements they may have. This evaluation will help you understand the different perspectives and priorities of each stakeholder group.

3. Address how the needs and expectations of each group can be met, and where compromises must be made.
Based on your evaluation, you can address how the needs and expectations of each stakeholder group can be met. Identify areas where there may be overlap, and develop strategies to address the common goals and concerns of multiple groups. Additionally, you should also identify areas where compromises may be necessary, as the needs and expectations of different stakeholders might not always align perfectly. Consider the potential trade-offs or adjustments that can be made to find a balance that meets the collective interests of all stakeholders.

4. Find a funding institution that works with human service organizations.
To find a funding institution that works with human service organizations, you can start by conducting research online. Look for reputable institutions or foundations that specialize in funding programs related to human services. You can also reach out to local community organizations or government agencies that may have information on funding opportunities.

5. Explain the expectations for evaluation of this funding institution. How could these expectations influence the program or evaluation plans?
To explain the expectations for evaluation of the funding institution you have chosen, you need to research and review their guidelines or policies regarding program evaluation. This information can usually be found on their website or by contacting their representatives directly. The expectations for evaluation may include specific outcomes, reporting requirements, or performance indicators that the funding institution wants to see. These expectations can greatly influence the program or evaluation plans, as they will need to be taken into account when developing the program logic, assessment tools, and reporting mechanisms. It is vital to align with these expectations to ensure the successful execution and potential future funding of the program.

6. Write your assessment of stakeholder influences in 1,050 to 1,400 words.
To write your assessment of stakeholder influences, gather all the information you have collected throughout the previous steps. Consider the needs, expectations, and perspectives of each stakeholder group, and analyze how they influence the program planning and evaluation process. Highlight any areas of alignment, potential conflicts, or compromises that need to be made. Discuss how meeting the needs and expectations of stakeholders will contribute to the effectiveness and impact of the program. Keep in mind the word count requirement and aim for a well-structured and coherent assessment that clearly demonstrates your understanding of stakeholder influences.

Remember, while the steps and explanations provided here serve as a starting point, it is important to conduct further research and gather relevant information specific to your chosen scenario and funding institution.
