Nellie McClung
Nellie McClung was a Canadian suffragette, social activist, legislator, and author. She was born on October 20, 1873, in Chatsworth, Ontario, Canada.
She was the daughter of John Mooney and Letitia McCurdy. She married Robert Wesley McClung in 1896, and they had five children together.
McClung was well-known for her role in the women's suffrage movement in Canada and for her work in improving social conditions for women and children. She was a member of the Famous Five, a group of Canadian women who successfully fought for women to be legally recognized as persons.
McClung was also a best-selling author and an accomplished public speaker. She was educated in various places, including the Normal School in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and later in Methodist college in Ontario.
Nellie McClung passed away on September 1, 1951, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
