How to make cross stitch

1. Gather your materials, including aida fabric, embroidery floss, a needle, and a pattern.

2. Cut a piece of aida fabric to the desired size for your project. Aida fabric has evenly spaced holes that make it easy to stitch on.

3. Choose a pattern or design to follow for your cross stitch. You can find free patterns online or create your own.

4. Thread your needle with a length of embroidery floss. Most cross stitch patterns are done using 2 strands of floss at a time.

5. Start stitching by bringing your needle up through the bottom left hole of a square on the fabric. Then bring it down through the top right hole to create a diagonal stitch.

6. Continue stitching in this manner, working row by row to create each cross stitch on the pattern.

7. Use different colored floss to fill in the different sections of the design, following the pattern's instructions for color changes.

8. Once you have completed all of the stitches in the pattern, tie off the thread on the back of the fabric to secure it in place.

9. Trim any excess fabric around the edges of your design and frame it if desired.

10. Display your finished cross stitch project proudly or give it as a thoughtful handmade gift.
