In 1960, cell phones as we know them today did not exist. The first true cell phones were not introduced until the 1970s and were large, bulky devices that were only used by a handful of people. The technology for modern cell phones, with their compact size and ability to make calls from anywhere, did not come about until the 1980s and 1990s.
