CTERS:

MICHELLE, 14
ANGELA, her sister, 12

(1) Stage Set: Michelle's bedroom, which is a mess, with drawers pulled out and clothes everywhere.

(2) Michelle looks frantically for something in her bedroom. She pulls out drawers, goes through them, and then searches under the bed. Angela pokes her head in the door.

(3) ANGELA: What's going on in here? Is this some new way to clean your room?

(4) MICHELLE: (muffled, head under the bed) Very funny. (popping her head up) I'm looking for my pink sweater. I can't find it anywhere! (pulling clothes out of a drawer) It has to be here somewhere. Can you help me? (pausing) Why are you just standing there?

(5) ANGELA:(in a very small voice) Michelle, I'm sorry...I borrowed your sweater.

(6) MICHELLE: (furiously) You know you're not supposed to borrow my stuff without asking! Give it back!

(7) ANGELA:(in an even smaller voice) I...um...I left it at school yesterday. I don't have it.

(8) MICHELLE: But I need it for the concert tonight! We're all wearing pink! What am I going to do? (noticing Angela close to tears) Oh, it's OK, Angela, I know you're sorry. I'll work something out.

(9) ANGELA: (hopefully) You know, I have a pretty pink shirt in my closet. It's not the same as your sweater, but it would look beautiful on you. You can borrow it if you want.

(10) MICHELLE: Sure. Thanks, Angela.

(11) ANGELA: (as both exit) Come and try it on.
