For every object in motion or at rest, it will remain that way unless an force is applied to it

which one is right

unbalanced

balanced

Both can be correct, depending on the context.

If the object is in motion or at rest and the forces acting on it are equal in size and opposite in direction, then the object is said to be in a state of balanced forces. In this case, the object will remain in its current state of motion or rest.

If the forces acting on the object are not equal in size and/or are not opposite in direction, then the object is said to be in a state of unbalanced forces. In this case, the object will accelerate in the direction of the greater force.

So, both balanced and unbalanced forces can cause an object to remain in its state of motion or rest unless a force is applied to it.
