Regardless of title (general education teacher, special education teacher, administrator. etc.), all school faculty members have a role and responsibilities in the education of children with exceptionalities.
These roles and responsibilities may include:
- Collaborating with each other to create individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with exceptionalities
- Differentiating instruction to meet the individual needs of students with exceptionalities
- Providing appropriate accommodations and modifications to support students with exceptionalities in the general education classroom
- Providing feedback and assessments to track the progress of students with exceptionalities
- Communicating regularly with parents and caregivers to discuss student progress and collaborate on strategies for success
- Advocating for the needs of students with exceptionalities within the school community
- Participating in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in educating students with exceptionalities.
