Copyright

Copyright is a form of legal protection provided to the creators of original works, such as literary, artistic, musical, and other creative works. It gives the creator the exclusive right to reproduce, distribute, perform, display, and license their work. Copyright exists automatically upon the creation of the work and does not require any formal registration. It typically lasts for the life of the creator plus an additional 70 years. Infringement of copyright occurs when someone uses, copies, or distributes a work without the permission of the copyright holder.
