Dumping is increasingly becoming a serious problem in South Africa, critically evaluate,atleast , three factors that lead to this problem
1. Lack of proper waste management infrastructure: One of the major factors contributing to dumping in South Africa is the lack of proper waste management infrastructure. Many areas in the country, especially in informal settlements and rural areas, lack access to proper waste collection and disposal systems. This leads to people resorting to illegal dumping as they have no other place to dispose of their waste.
2. Economic factors: Poverty and unemployment are significant contributing factors to dumping in South Africa. Many people living in impoverished areas do not have the financial means to pay for waste removal services or access formal waste disposal facilities. As a result, they may resort to illegal dumping as a cheaper alternative. Additionally, lack of job opportunities in these areas may lead people to engage in illegal dumping as a means of making a quick buck by collecting and selling recyclable materials.
3. Lack of awareness and education: Another factor that contributes to the dumping problem in South Africa is a lack of awareness and education about the importance of proper waste disposal.
