Goat tying is a popular rodeo event where contestants, typically young cowgirls, compete to see who can tie a goat's legs the quickest. This fast-paced and thrilling event has deep roots in Western culture and provides an opportunity for riders to showcase their skills and agility. As someone who has always been fascinated by the world of rodeo and Western sports, I am particularly interested in exploring the history and techniques of goat tying.

In my research paper, I plan to address the following research questions:
1. What is the history of goat tying and how has the event evolved over time?
2. How do you goat tie? What are the key techniques and strategies involved in successfully completing a goat tying run?
3. What equipment and materials are needed for goat tying? How do you prepare a goat for tying?
4. Which direction is the goat tying industry headed in terms of rules, regulations, and participation?
5. How do you train a goat horse for goat tying competitions? What are the key factors to consider when preparing a goat horse for competition?

In addition to these main research questions, I have identified potential additional topics that relate to goat tying, such as the role of women in rodeo and the cultural significance of Western sports in American society.

For my research, I plan to gather information from a variety of sources, including books on rodeo history, articles from rodeo and Western sports magazines, interviews with professional goat tying competitors, and videos of goat tying competitions. I also hope to attend a live rodeo event to observe goat tying in action and learn more about the sport firsthand.
