Create a diary entry about the poem, the sleeping black boy

Dear Diary,

Today in English class, we read a poem called "The Sleeping Black Boy" by Langston Hughes. The poem painted a vivid picture of a young African American boy peacefully sleeping, oblivious to the world around him. The imagery and language used by Hughes in the poem were so powerful and moving.

As I read the poem, I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness and frustration at the injustices faced by Black people in our society. It made me realize how easy it is for some people to overlook the humanity and innocence of others simply because of the color of their skin.

The poem challenged me to think more deeply about racial inequality and the ways in which we can work towards a more just and equitable society. It reminded me of the importance of empathy and understanding, and the need to actively listen to the voices of those who have been marginalized and silenced.

I am grateful for the opportunity to read such a thought-provoking and impactful poem. It has inspired me to continue educating myself and advocating for social justice in whatever ways I can.

Yours truly,
