One of the most interesting things I learned about passive transport is that it does not require energy input from the cell, as it relies on the natural movement of molecules from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration. This process, known as diffusion, allows cells to efficiently transport molecules and ions across their membranes without expending energy. It was surprising to me how cells have evolved to utilize this simple yet effective method for transporting essential substances.
