Step 2: Project Components & Research Information
Conduct Research on your famous Kansan: Use print and Internet resources to gather information for your PowerPoint or Google Slides Portfolio Presentation. Take note of your research resources for a Works Cited page, use research information as in-text citations (ELA Lesson 14. 8 Evidence) and create a detailed presentation about your famous Kansan.
Your research must include the following information:
Background on the life of the chosen Kansan.
What obstacles did they encounter during their lifetime?
What is their lasting effect on our society today?* This is the most important section!
List one quote that represents the person’s personality or importance.

*Be sure to include at least 2-3 in-text citation when using research information. Avoid Plagiarism!

Step 3: Final Portfolio Project Checklist
Create a multimedia presentation in either PowerPoint or Google Slides. Use this CHECKLIST to ensure you include all required research information for this combined Social Studies and ELA portfolio presentation.

Make sure you have detailed Introduction, Body Paragraphs and Conclusion.
Must include a Claim Sentence (Thesis Statement) in your Introduction
Body Paragraphs: Include all research information found in Step 2 (Think 1 slide per research item to give enough room for details and pictures)
Include pictures, graphs, maps, etc. that relate to the Kansan you picked.
Be creative! Use different fonts, colors, graphics, presentation design to make it POP! Make your presentation stand out!
Must include a Works Cited page, correctly formatted

Use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation throughout your presentation.

Practice your presentation before presenting to the class. Be prepared to speak confidently and clearly about your chosen famous Kansan and their impact on Kansas history.
Submit your final presentation by the due date.
