A bio-digester is a system that breaks down organic materials such as food waste, animal manure, and sewage in an oxygen-free environment. This process, called anaerobic digestion, produces biogas as a byproduct. The biogas is mainly composed of methane and carbon dioxide and can be used as a renewable energy source for cooking, heating, and electricity generation. The bio-digester also produces a nutrient-rich byproduct called digestate, which can be used as fertilizer.
