Define genotype and phenotype, homozygous, heterozygous, dominant and recessive

Genotype refers to the genetic makeup of an organism, specifically the combination of alleles for a particular gene. Phenotype refers to the physical characteristics or traits that are expressed as a result of the genotype.

Homozygous refers to an individual that has two identical alleles for a particular gene, either dominant or recessive. Heterozygous refers to an individual that has two different alleles for a particular gene.

Dominant refers to an allele that is expressed in the phenotype even if only one copy is present in the genotype. Recessive refers to an allele that is only expressed in the phenotype if two copies are present in the genotype.
