How do I find out on a standard calculator what this is:
A=1/2 (4 3 )(48)
It's supposed to read 4 square root 3
I don't even know how to input this into my calculator. Can someone tell me how? thanks!
I assume sqrt(3) is the problem...there should be a square root button on your calculator, or, if not, an exponent button ("^"). If using the exponent button, remember that sqrt(3) = 3^(1/2).
The rest is just multiplication or division.
So does 166.28 sound about right? I don't have any examples to base the answer against, so I am very leery of this.
Yes, that is exactly what I got.
To find the value of A = 1/2 (4√3)(48) using a standard calculator, follow these steps:
1. Start by evaluating the expression within the parentheses: 4√3. Since the square root symbol (√) is not directly available on a standard calculator, we need to convert it into a decimal.
2. To convert √3 to a decimal, use the following steps:
- Enter the number 3 on your calculator.
- Press the square root (√) button. This will give you the decimal approximation of √3.
3. After obtaining the decimal approximation for √3, multiply it by 4: 4 × √3 = 4 * (decimal approximation of √3).
4. Multiply the result from step 3 by 48: (4 * (decimal approximation of √3)) * 48.
5. Finally, multiply the result from step 4 by 1/2 to evaluate the entire expression: A = (1/2) * ((4 * (decimal approximation of √3)) * 48).
By following these steps, you can find the value of A using a standard calculator.
