Tors are geological landforms that are created through the process of weathering and erosion. Initially, large granite boulders are exposed to the elements, which causes them to crack and break apart. Over time, the cracks widen due to a combination of freeze-thaw cycles and chemical weathering. As the rocks continue to erode, smaller fragments are washed away by water, leaving behind the large, weathered boulders that form the distinctive shape of a tor.
