Choose one of the following and describe how a magnetic field helps it to perform its function: MRI Precipitator Particle accelerator maglev train You may draw diagrams to support your written answer. Your answer should be no less than 5-6 sentences in length. (3 points)

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machines use a strong magnetic field to help generate detailed images of the inside of the human body. The magnetic field aligns the hydrogen atoms in the body, which then emit radio waves when a pulse of energy is applied. The machine detects these signals and uses them to create a detailed image of the tissues and organs being examined. Without the magnetic field, the signals emitted by the hydrogen atoms would not be detectable and the MRI machine would not be able to perform its function of producing high-quality images.
