Is the natural approach a theory that originated in Africa?

The natural approach is a language teaching method that was developed in the United States in the 1970s by Tracy Terrell and Stephen Krashen. It is based on the idea that language acquisition should happen in a natural and communicative way, through exposure to meaningful input and opportunities for interaction in the target language.

While the natural approach is not a theory that originated in Africa, it does draw on principles of natural language learning that are evident in many contexts, including African languages and cultures.
