Since the evolution of our earliest humanlike ancestors, Homo sapiens have evolved into the dominant species on Earth. Our ability to adapt, innovate, and communicate has allowed us to thrive and populate virtually every corner of the planet. While there have been many different species of humanlike ancestors in the past, modern humans are the only surviving branch of the genus.
