The Reformation, on the other hand, was a religious movement led by figures such as Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Henry VIII that sought to reform the Catholic Church and address issues of corruption and abuse within the institution. The Protestant Reformation ultimately led to the fracturing of the Catholic Church and the rise of new Christian denominations throughout Europe.
