Describe a class 1 lever and give one example of a class 1 lever

A class 1 lever consists of a rigid rod or bar that rotates around a fixed pivot point, called a fulcrum. The effort (force applied) is applied on one side of the fulcrum, while the load (resistance) is on the other side.

One example of a class 1 lever is a seesaw. In a seesaw, the fulcrum is the center point of the board on which the children sit. One child pushes down on their side (effort) causing the other child to be lifted up on the opposite side (load).
