There are two parts to this activity: a design project and a short explanation of your design.

For each Historical Piece Portfolio, you will use Inkscape or an image editing software of your choice to create an original piece of artwork that reflects one of the design styles you have studied in this unit.

For the third Historical Piece portfolio, you will create a magazine cover that reflects one of the following design styles:

Doo-Wop
International Typographic Style
Pop Art
To create your design, choose an appropriate subject matter, purpose, and audience. What topics does your (imaginary) magazine cover? What type of reader would this magazine want to attract? Who will view this design?

Once you have identified the answers to these questions, choose the Doo-Wop, International Typographic Style, or Pop Art style and begin creating your design.

For the short explanation, write 1-2 paragraphs describing which characteristics of the design style can be seen in your design. Analyze how the historical and aesthetic influences of the time period are reflected in your design.

Unfortunately, I cannot access the Historical Piece Portfolio Rubric as I am a language model and do not have browsing capabilities. However, I can provide some guidance on how to approach this design project.

For example, if you choose Pop Art as your design style for the magazine cover, you may want to focus on vibrant colors, bold lines, and a playful, graphic approach. Consider using images of popular culture icons or everyday objects in a stylized, exaggerated way.

In your short explanation, you can discuss how Pop Art emerged in the 1950s as a reaction to the consumerism and mass media of the time. You can analyze how your design reflects the bold, colorful, and kitschy aesthetic of the Pop Art movement, drawing inspiration from artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.

Remember to also consider the target audience of your magazine cover and how the design style you choose can help attract and engage this audience. Good luck with your design project!
