homozygous

Homozygous refers to a condition where an individual carries two identical alleles of a specific gene. This means that both copies of a particular gene are the same, whether they are dominant or recessive alleles. For example, if a person has two dominant alleles (AA) for a specific trait, they are homozygous dominant. On the other hand, if a person has two recessive alleles (aa) for a trait, they are homozygous recessive.
