In soccer, when the ball goes out of bounds, play is typically resumed with a throw-in. A throw-in is awarded to the opposing team of the player who last touched the ball before it went out of bounds. The player taking the throw-in must stand near the sideline with both feet on the ground, and then throw the ball from behind and over their head using both hands. The ball must be thrown from the exact point where it went out of bounds, and all opposing players must be a minimum of two meters away from the thrower.
