Give two examples of when a dead ball would be kicked

1) In football (soccer), a dead ball can be kicked when a goal kick is taken. After the ball has gone out of bounds over the goal line and was last touched by an attacking player, the goalkeeper takes a goal kick. The ball is considered dead until the goalkeeper kicks it, and no other players are allowed to touch or interfere with the ball until it is in play.

2) In rugby, a dead ball can be kicked when a scrum is awarded. When a forward pass occurs or an infringement takes place, a scrum is formed. The ball is considered dead until the scrum-half feeds the ball into the scrum by kicking it. The scrum-half's kick initiates the engagement of the players, and the ball becomes live and can be played by both teams.
