Trabeculation

Trabeculation refers to the presence of small, irregular muscle bundles or folds within an organ or tissue. It is commonly seen in the ventricles of the heart, where it contributes to the contraction and relaxation of the heart muscle. Trabeculation can also occur in other organs, such as the urinary bladder or the intestine, where it helps in their respective functions. In some cases, excessive trabeculation may occur, leading to conditions such as left ventricular noncompaction or bladder trabeculation disorder.
