To keep the columns on the Parthenon looking straight from a distance, the architects implemented an optical illusion called entasis. Entasis is a slight bulge given to the columns, making them appear perfectly straight when viewed from a distance. This technique compensates for the visual distortion caused by the natural curvature of the human eye. By incorporating entasis, the architects created an aesthetically pleasing and visually balanced structure.
