The artwork showcases the two main characters, Tokchae and Songsam, with a crane in the background symbolizing the theme of friendship and reconciliation.

The colors used in the artwork are muted and earthy tones, reflecting the somber mood of the story. The image of the crane is represented in a soft and ethereal manner, highlighting the beauty and grace associated with the crane.

In the foreground, Tokchae and Songsam are depicted facing each other, their expressions filled with uncertainty and tension. This represents the initial conflict between them, as they had been on opposing sides during the Korean War.

However, their closeness to each other indicates the underlying bond they share as childhood friends. The presence of the crane signifies the hope for forgiveness and reconciliation between them.

Through this digital art piece, I aim to visually represent the emotional journey undertaken by the two characters. The art serves as a reflection of the themes of friendship, forgiveness, and the impacts of war explored in Hwang Sun-won's "Cranes."

I chose to adapt the original text into a digital art piece because I wanted to create a visual representation of the story that would capture the emotions and themes explored in the text.

I chose to adapt the specific scene of Tokchae and Songsam facing each other with the crane in the background because it is a crucial moment in the story where their past friendship and the current conflict between them are highlighted.

From the original text, I changed the medium from written words to digital art because I believe that visual imagery can have a powerful impact in conveying emotions and messages to the audience. I also changed the color palette to reflect the somber mood of the story and added the symbol of the crane to emphasize the theme of reconciliation and forgiveness.
