2. The May Fourth Movement occurred in 1919, following the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, which concluded World War I. Thousands of Chinese students and intellectuals took to the streets of Beijing to protest against foreign imperialism and unfair treatment by the Chinese government. They advocated for democracy, nationalism, and the promotion of science and the vernacular language. This movement is considered a key catalyst for the Chinese revolution and ultimately led to the founding of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

2. The founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949 marked a significant turning point in Chinese history. Led by Chairman Mao Zedong and the CCP, the revolution resulted in the establishment of a communist regime, ending decades of civil war and foreign occupation. The PRC aimed to address social inequality, promote egalitarianism, and regain sovereignty over Chinese territory. This event reshaped China's political, economic, and social structure, and set the stage for future developments, including the events in Tiananmen Square.

2. The Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 were a pro-democracy movement that emerged in Beijing, primarily led by students. The demonstrations began in April and grew into a mass movement, demanding political reform, freedom of speech, and an end to corruption. However, on June 3-4, the Chinese government brutally crushed the protests, deploying troops and firing into the crowds to maintain control. Estimates of the death toll vary widely, but it is believed that hundreds, if not thousands, of people were killed. This event remains highly sensitive and tightly censored within China.
