Analogy

An analogy is a comparison between two or more things that have similar features or characteristics, in order to explain a complex or abstract concept in a more understandable or relatable way. It often uses familiar objects or situations to create a bridge between the known and the unknown, allowing the listener or reader to grasp a new idea by relating it to something they already understand. For example, comparing the brain to a computer, with neurons as the circuitry and electrical signals acting as data transmission, helps illustrate the basic functions of the brain in a more tangible way.
