What was James Mcbride's PRIMARY purpose for writing "Hip-Ho Plant"?

There is no known work by James McBride titled "Hip-Ho Plant." It may be a mix-up or a typing error. However, James McBride did write a bestselling memoir called "The Color of Water," where he explores his own life growing up in a biracial family. In this memoir, his primary purpose was to understand and share his own complex racial and cultural identity as well as shed light on the experiences of his mother, who was a white Jewish woman raising her children in a predominantly Black community.
