International retirement migration refers to the phenomenon in which individuals or retired individuals move from one country to another in search of a better quality of life or a more suitable retirement destination. This typically involves moving from a higher-cost country to a lower-cost country, where retirees can potentially enjoy better weather, lower living expenses, and access to amenities such as healthcare and recreational activities.

Emigration, on the other hand, refers to the act of leaving one's home country to permanently settle in another country. This can be due to various reasons such as economic opportunities, political instability, or seeking a better quality of life. Emigration involves making a move to a new country with the intention of permanently residing there and often requires obtaining legal immigration status in the new country.

An asylum seeker, on the other hand, is an individual who seeks protection in another country as they have fled their home country due to persecution, violence, or other threats to their safety or well-being. Asylum seekers often leave their home countries due to fear of persecution based on reasons such as their race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group. Once in their host country, they seek protection and recognition as refugees, requiring a legal process to determine their eligibility for asylum.
