By studying the rhetoric of influential leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Angela Davis, I learned the power of language and how it can shape movements for social change. These readings and discussions motivated me to become an ally, to lend my voice to the fight for justice, and to actively work towards a more inclusive and equal society.
Reflecting on the themes and rhetoric covered in this course, I can confidently say that it has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on my learning journey. It has taught me to critically evaluate the information presented to me, to challenge my preconceived notions, and to engage in difficult conversations surrounding race. While there were moments of discomfort and introspection, they were necessary for my growth as an individual and as a member of society.
However, I understand that this course might not resonate with everyone in the same way. I believe it is essential to respect everyone's autonomy in choosing which courses to take.
