Evidence

- Author's Purpose: The reason why the author has chosen to write a specific piece of text, such as to inform, persuade, entertain, or express their opinion.

- Text Structure: The way in which a piece of text is organized or structured, such as in a chronological order, a cause and effect pattern, or a compare and contrast format.

- Cause and Effect: The relationship between events or actions where one event (the cause) leads to another event (the effect). Clue words include because, since, as a result, therefore, and consequently.

- Compare and Contrast: The process of identifying similarities and differences between two or more things or ideas. Clue words include similar, alike, different, on the other hand, and whereas.

- Description: Using descriptive language to provide details and examples about a topic, person, place, or thing. Clue words include such as, for example, characterized by, and in addition.

- Problem/Solution: Presenting an issue or challenge and then offering a solution or resolution for that problem. Clue words include problem, issue, challenge, solution, and resolution.

- Sequence: Organizing information or events in a specific order, such as in a chronological or step-by-step manner. Clue words include first, second, next, finally, and then.

- Point of View: The perspective from which a story or text is told, such as first person (using "I" or "we"), second person (using "you"), or third person (using "he," "she," or "they").

- Position: The stance or opinion that the author takes on a particular topic or issue.

- Topic: The subject or main idea of a piece of writing.

- Argument: A statement or claim that is supported by evidence and reasoning.

- Claim: The main point or thesis that the author is trying to prove or argue.

- Evidence: Facts, examples, and details that support a claim or argument.
