The peripheral nervous system is responsible for transporting information throughout the body. It is composed of the nerves and ganglia outside of the brain and spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system carries sensory information from sensory organs to the central nervous system and motor signals from the central nervous system to muscles and glands.
