George Clooney is known for being an American actor, filmmaker, and activist. He gained recognition for his role as Dr. Doug Ross on the television medical drama ER (1994–1999), which earned him two Primetime Emmy Awards. Clooney went on to have a successful film career, starring in movies such as Ocean's Eleven (2001) and its sequels, Syriana (2005) for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, Up in the Air (2009), The Descendants (2011), Gravity (2013), and many more. Besides his acting career, Clooney is also known for his social and political activism, particularly in advocating for human rights in Sudan and Darfur. He co-founded the production company Smokehouse Pictures and has directed and produced several critically acclaimed films.
