Briefly explain Sieving

Sieving is a separation technique used to separate particles according to their size by running them through a sieve, which is a device with uniform holes or mesh. The process involves placing the mixture of different-sized particles on top of the sieve and either shaking it manually or using a machine that induces vibrations. Particles that are smaller than the sieve's holes pass through as 'fine' fractions, while larger particles remain on top as 'coarse' fractions. Sieving is commonly employed in industries such as food production, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and mining. It can be used to sift flour, classify aggregates, filter impurities, or assess particle size distribution for quality control purposes.
