hat did Mexico recognize as the border with Texas?(1 point)

Mexico's recognition of the border between Texas and the rest of Mexico evolved due to political changes and conflicts. After the Texas Revolution (1835–1836), the newly-formed Republic of Texas claimed the Rio Grande (Río Bravo del Norte) as its southern boundary. Conversely, Mexico did not recognize this claim and insisted that the border remained at the Nueces River, further north than the Rio Grande.

This disagreement was one of the contributing factors leading to the Mexican-American War (1846–1848). The war ended with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in which Mexico ceded its claims to Texas above the Rio Grande. Thus, after the war, Mexico recognized the Rio Grande as the border with Texas, which by then had been annexed to the United States (1845).
