Anchovies are not known to be primary consumers of kelp. While they may occasionally consume small pieces of kelp that drift in the water, their diet primarily consists of plankton, small fish, and invertebrates. Kelp is more commonly consumed by animals such as sea urchins, sea otters, and some species of fish like the sheephead fish.
