The information in the genetics unit I best understood was the concept of Punnett squares and how they can be used to predict the probability of traits being passed down from parents to offspring. The topic that was most challenging for me to understand was the role of epigenetics in gene expression and how environmental factors can impact gene activity. A strategy I could use to determine the factors that influence plant growth is conducting experiments with different variables such as sunlight, water, and soil nutrients to see how they affect plant growth. One topic in this unit I would like to learn more about is the process of DNA replication and how errors in this process can lead to mutations, as I find the mechanisms behind genetic mutations fascinating.
