Explain what the process of respiration is. (Very short paragraph)

Respiration is the process by which living organisms exchange gases with their environment. In humans, it involves inhalation of oxygen and exhalation of carbon dioxide. Oxygen is taken in through the respiratory system and transported to cells where it is used in cellular respiration to produce energy. Carbon dioxide, a waste product, is then carried back to the lungs and expelled from the body during exhalation. Respiration ensures the supply of oxygen and removal of carbon dioxide, allowing for the continuous functioning of cells and sustaining life.
