In your own words explain why a European country would choose to stay away from the European Union? in a way a 7th grader would write it

Sometimes, countries in Europe might not want to be a part of the European Union because they want to have control over their own rules and laws. They might also want to make their own decisions about things like trade and immigration, without having to follow the rules of the European Union. It's kind of like when you play a game with your friends, but you don't want to follow the rules that everyone else agreed on. You just want to do your own thing and have your own way of doing things.

A European country might choose to stay away from the European Union for a few different reasons. One reason could be that they want to have more control over their own laws and rules. Being part of the European Union means following certain rules that apply to all member countries. Some people in a country might think that these rules limit their freedom to make decisions that work best for them. Another reason could be that the country wants to make its own trade deals with other countries outside of the European Union. Being part of the European Union means that all member countries have to follow the same trade policies. But if a country decides to leave, it can make its own trade agreements with other nations. Lastly, some people in a country might believe that their country is paying too much money to be a member of the European Union. They might think that the money could be spent on other important things, like improving education or healthcare. So, in summary, a European country might choose to stay away from the European Union to have more control over their own laws and rules, make independent trade deals, or to save money for other important things.
