During the Rwandan genocide, thousands of innocent people were subjected to arbitrary arrest and detention without any valid reason or legal process. The Hutu extremist militia and government forces were responsible for capturing Tutsi and moderate Hutu people and imprisoning them in inhumane conditions, often without trial or charge. Many were also exiled from their homes, forced to flee the country, or face certain death. This flagrant disregard for international human rights laws led to the tragic loss of over 800,000 lives in just 100 days.
