Dogs and cats belong to different species and therefore have different numbers of chromosomes. This means their genetic material cannot combine to create a viable offspring. Additionally, dogs and cats have different physical structures and behaviors that make it physically impossible for them to mate and reproduce. Even if they could mate, the genetic makeup of their offspring would not be viable and would likely not survive.
