Sound waves transfer energy through the vibration of particles in a medium (such as air, water, or solids), causing pressure changes that propagate through the medium. Light waves transfer energy through oscillating electric and magnetic fields that travel through space as electromagnetic radiation. Both sound and light waves transmit energy, but in different ways and through different mediums.
