The ocean current that runs along the West Coast of South America is the Humboldt Current (also known as the Peru Current). This current is usually cold, with temperatures ranging from 14°C to 20°C (57°F to 68°F). The direction of the current is predominantly northward, running from the southern tip of Chile up to the northern coast of Peru.
